In a significant stride towards addressing the global challenge of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), IDA Foundation and the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products are proud to announce their partnership.
NCDs, encompassing chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, respiratory ailments, and diabetes, have surged to the forefront of global health concerns. Despite their escalating impact, disparities in access to crucial NCD medicines and products persist, disproportionately affecting populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Through this new partnership, the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products and IDA Foundation aim to change the narrative.
The Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products unites diverse stakeholders across four critical workstreams – Supply Chain Strengthening, Financing & Costing, Capacity Building, and Advocacy. This holistic approach aligns seamlessly with IDA Foundation’s mission. Renowned for its extensive expertise in procuring and providing access to medicines and medical goods in resource-limited settings, IDA brings over five decades of experience to the Coalition’s Technical Advisory Committee.
In December 2023, IDA introduced NCDconnect, thereby bringing an innovative solution to the partnership. This NCD ecosystem solution enables efficient access to quality NCD medicines, medical supplies, and diagnostics for health organisations in all low- and middle-income countries. Addressing the Coalition’s workstream on Supply Chain Strengthening, NCDconnect aims to enhance the affordability and accessibility of quality NCD healthcare products.
This partnership signifies a united front in addressing the multifaceted challenges associated with NCDs, such as affordability, availability, and accessibility of life-saving medications.
Through the combined strengths of IDA Foundation and the Coalition, the aim is to fortify the global health supply chain, ensuring that individuals in LMICs have unhindered access to quality-assured NCD medicines and products.
As we embark on this collaborative journey, IDA Foundation and the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products are poised to make substantial contributions towards building a healthier and more resilient world, where the burden of NCDs is alleviated through strategic, collective efforts.
